Problem statement
Design students don’t have a platform to showcase or capitalize on their work and lack the incentives or motivation to improve their skills.
To gain valuable insights, the research encompassed four distinct approaches. Surveys yielded 101 responses, predominantly from students across diverse regions, aligning with our target audience.
Ten in-depth interviews provided multifaceted perspectives, offering insights from both buyer and seller standpoints. Leveraging technology, five remote focus groups, each comprising four participants, facilitated meaningful discussions on the topic.
Additionally, consultation with four design professionals and educators enriched the research with their expertise, contributing valuable dimensions to the study.
The following were the main insights from my research
Recognition: Students put in a lot of hard work in what they do. Credits and recognition for great work are something that they deserve.
Hesitation: Some students tend to hesitate when putting their work out for others to see, as they worry about how good the quality is.
Community: As people cannot grow alone, interested student sellers were keen on learning and improving by being part of a community
Purchase power: The suggested price range of Rs 100-500 might be because students usually don't have a recurring monthly income.
Affordable: Most students intend to set a price for their work that's very affordable because many of them are aware of their lack of credibility.
Genuine feedback: Getting critical feedback on the work of their hobby is difficult because they might not know the right people for it.

So, after researching about the space, trying to build my understanding about this space and benchmarking with the competitors...

...I built user personas to get a better understanding and mapped out ideas that could address the problem...

...I sketched out ideas on the paper, built the wireframes to bring life to the concepts and worked on the execution of the final work...
...and the following was the end result

Takeaways
Understanding: Initial research and usability tests brought to light the importance of validating our hypothesis at each step of the design process.
Explorations: Understanding the ecosystem of any given space is important to understand what are the innovations that can be brought to the solution.
